If you are stopped or detained
Ask if you are free to go
"Am I being detained, or am I free to leave?" Stay calm; do not resist physically.
Give your correct name & address
You may be asked for basic identity. Giving a false identity can itself be an offence.
Right to know the grounds
They must tell you why you are being arrested.
Right to a lawyer
Of your choice — and to consult them.
Right to inform someone
A relative or friend must be told of your arrest.
Produced within 24 hours

Right to a medical exam
Especially if you are hurt. A woman may ask to be examined by a female doctor.
Stay silent; no password
Beyond basic ID you may stay silent, and cannot be compelled to reveal your phone password.
Belongings need a seizure memo
Police can't simply take your things in detention; seizing your phone needs a documented memo.
Extra protections

Arrested/searched by a woman officer, and examined by a female doctor. Not detained overnight except by special procedure.
Minors (under 18)
Cannot be taken to an ordinary police station or jail — handled by a juvenile police unit / child welfare officer. Carry age proof (birth or school certificate).
On arrest
The officer must show clear ID and give an arrest memo listing the charges.
